Stations and locations served
The original line ran from Broadstone to Bath Junction with branches to Wimborne, Burnham-on-Sea, Bridgwater and Wells. There were also running powers from Broadstone to Bournemouth West and Bath Junction to Bath Green Park.
The New S&D will restore these routes, together with Radstock-Bristol TM (via Pensford) and Wimborne to Brockenhurst (via Ringwood) to create a modern, 21st century, transport network serving Somerset and Dorset.
Most if not all original stations and halts will be reopened, and it is expected that several new stations will be built where communities have grown since closure.
